Remote Desktop versus NetMeeting versus other Remote Control programs

Need to control a Win2K server, preferably with some modicum of security. It's located behind a DSL modem, so NAT is about all it's got to keep it from being completely overrun (so far doing a pretty good job). I've used NetOp and PCAnywhere plenty, as well as NetMeeting - though that was internally on my network only. Since I've started using Win2003, I've become a fan of Remote Desktop, but this server is Win2K and not being upgraded any time soon. What are my options? I'm pretty sure RDA isn't one of them, at least not in the form I know in Win2K3. Loading all of Terminal Services on the box seems a little cumbersome.

1) I'm pretty sure you can get a remote Desktop Client for Win2k computers for free from Microsoft's website. I'm not sure if this lets you control a Win2k PC, or lets a Win2k PC control an XP machine, or both.

2) Tight VNC

Terminal Services is Remote Desktop on win2k before they changed the name. The client is the same too I think.

Yes I can use Remote Desktop Client to connect to Win2K TermServices, but setting that up is a pain. Netmeeting was a simpler method.

Setting up Terminal Services should be easy.

You just go to add/remove programs, windows components, check TS, and when it's configuring it it'll ask if you want remote admin mode or application mode. Choose remote admin mode and it shouldn't ask you anything else, it'll just be set up. Not much to it.

Once TS is running, you just connect with RDC from a WinXP box, or with TSClient or the Web client from another OS.

Missed that last question...

Yeah, I think you can use netmeeting if you want, to launch it in XP just go to Start->Run->conf and that will launch it.

The TS way will work much better though, I've done it both ways quite a bit, I have dozens of remote Windows servers I manage.

Thanks. Out of curiousity, why RSA better than NM? What about Microsoft's wording of license for RSA - meaning you're not suppose to run applications, just admin stuff?
