Remote Desktop is so awesome...

Because of the RDP and VNC discovery by me, approximately 2 months ago, I'm planning to set up a wired connection everywhere in my house, as well as a wireless one, so that if I need to control another computer (or download/upload something faster 😉) I can do so with ease 😀

Yeah, we have that on our new SBS 2003 servers at work, but I can't for the life of me work out how you'd "transplant" it onto a regular XP box.

there's also remote administrator which has the ability to completely control the machine from elsewhere and to allow for file transfers among other goodies. it's a good program -- the first remote administrator program that i've seen (i guess that makes me more partial to it).

if you install this as a service (as you would if you want to remotely connect to it), you should forward the port to an open port that isn't blocked, like port 80 (if you're not running a webserver, you should be able to do that)

There are a number of benefits to remotely connecting to machines beyond paying one's bills and listening to music.
