Remote Desktop Connection: Secure in-home use without password?

I want to connect my HTPC and gaming server to my main computer. The server PC is in our living room and my main computer is on the second story of our house. I was wondering if it was possible to securely allow for remote desktop connections via LAN only without the need for a password (without opening my PC up for attacks from blanket sweeping IP hackers). I've never operated a remote desktop before and appreciate any input y'all can offer! Thanks.

By default you can't, but you can override the setting that prevents it from working. MS KB On disabling the password restrictions

As long as you're not forwarding the Remote Desktop/RDP (3389) port to any of your unsecured and Remote Desktop enabled PCs on your router, you should be ok from outside attacks. If you use wifi though ensure it's secure as possible since anyone with wired or wireless access to your network would be able to access and control your PCs.
