Remote Desktop Connection Issue

So corporate IT finally upgrades my work desktop to a modern machine with Win 7.

However I seem to have one problem.

When I remote in, the first time it goes ok.

However when I disconnect or log out, in either case I can no longer connect to my work desktop remotely again.

Usually I remain logged in on my work PC so that Outlook can continue to run.

What could be going on here?

Sounds like it's probably going to sleep or something. Check the power settings then call your IT.

well.

its instantaneous. Like as soon as I log off or disconnect, I cannot reconnect.

And I did not have this issue with the older XP machine.

I will check on the power settings though.

My work PC with Radeon graphics freezes permanently after remoting in for a few times.

Yes I am 100% sure it is graphics because I swapped it with another card of different chip maker and problem went away.

My advice: Log out or reboot the remote PC instead of disconnecting. I know that is PITA, but increases chance you'll be able to log in next time

It could also be that the work machine still thinks there is an active RDP connection and is refusing to boot the current session when you attempt to reconnect.
