Remote Desktop connection from iPad to Mac Mini desktop?

Is there a built-in Apple equivalent to Remote Desktop to connect and control a Mac Mini desktop running OS X 10.6 from an iPad 2? Or should I look into VNC? Looking for free or cheap options.

If it's not built in, I suppose I'm looking for both server and client apps. I just need something that works on a local LAN, it doesn't need to connect over the internet.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've used Splashtop on Android to connect to Windows and it worked well. I didn't know that was a good one for Macs too.

Thanks, I've heard good things about Teamviewer too, but haven't tried it yet. I'll have a look at it.

I found out that OS X has VNC Screen Sharing built in, so I'm testing some of the free/lite client apps.

I like the "Screens" app personally.

Works with built-in Apple screen sharing as well as vanilla VNC servers.
