remote controlling my pc

What im looking to do is be able to control winamp or WMP via remote. i have a ati wonder II and a philips pronto 3000. ideally id like to create links for all my artists/albums on my pronto and control it with the ati reciever. i asked someone about this and they suggested a girder, but i did not get the full idea of what that was. do they make a reciever w/o a remote for a PC? a supernudeplaylist was also suggested but i did not get the full jist of that either. any help is much appreciated.

i read that but what im trying to find out is if it a reciever that plugs into a usb port or something to that extent, and then you can program a remote to run WMP? or is it just software?

Girder is just software. You'll have to get the remote elsewhere, but it supports many 3rd party remotes (ie, I use the remote that came with my Leadtek TV Tuner).

so would the reciever for the wonder II remote work with the girder software?

edit: ok i looked at some other things like the USB-UIRT, and i would like to know how that works. the pronto is a learning remote so it needs a singnal sent to it before it can repeat it. does the USB-UIRT send out signals to preform the functions?
