I want to hook 2 or 3 of those engines to a bicycle or something.

Back when I was flying RC planes with my dad, I saw a guy show up with an RC jet. It was a model of an F-14 and when he started it up the sound was insane. The entire field stopped flying to watch this guy go. The sound in the video don't do that jet justice.

It'll be sweet if you can hook up a lil cam and fly that thing w/ a help on the monitor lol. It'll be even more awesome :D

Tons more pics

But then again, I'm guessing this is the more extreme end of this hobby... I guess you could say the same for a $1000 headphone (which is also :shocked;).

Oh, definately. Scale turbine engines start at $2.5k all the up to $5k - not including the plane or electronics. Or fuel. Or a shoulder to cry on when your $10,000 airplane crashes :D

Those babies can produce 50lbs of thrust... powered from a battery? Or am I missing something? What's the POWER SOURCE!?!?

You don't have to wish, the USAF has them in operation.

Pretty sure they use gasoline for those.

I was at a small RC airshow last month that had a jet similar to that with probably that same turbine. It's funny because many people (women/kids) don't understand what it is, so when he starts it up kids go running and moms run away with their kids.

If you search around on the net, there are tons of videos and pics of RC jets with gas turbine engines. Several are on youtube. Also many on RC forums, personal RC flyer websites, and the websites of companies that make the planes and turbines. Tons of fighter jets with twin turbines; airliners and bombers with mutiple turbines. There are some videos of them crashing & burning too. Most RC jet flyers have large fire extinguishers! One RC jet airshow I saw a video of had a real fire engine type thing that you'd see at a major airport. Many RC clubs have real nice paved & marked runways, since you shouldn't take off/land the turbines on the grass.
I've got a list of links if interested. I spent a whole day one day looking at stuff. ;)
