I know I've seen something like this before....... but I'm looking for something to remotely control my PC through infrared or something. I really only need the ability to control things like winamp and such.

Anyone know of anything like this?

Why not get something like the Logitechs Itouch cordless keyboard, it's keys are compatible with Winamp and other media apps and it has a fairly good infra red range.....unless it's too big for what you are looking for?

I have Logitechs Itouch wireless keyboard and mouse. They are the best investment I ever made. They say no more than 20 inches from the reciever box but I tested it up to about 20 ft without problems and with moderate use have had the same batteries in both for about 4 months.

what about a remote from a TV tuner card, can you enchant it to become winamp's favorite too ?

why isn't it possible to use a universal remote with a pc's/Laptop's IR-port?
It should only be a software problem .... ?

There are a lot of remotes for computers. Logitech has a few including one that has a trackball that I want to replace this old remote I have.

BTW, yes you can use a universal or even a regular remote control. All you need is a signal receiver and software. bHere is where a one such utility exists, but if you do a net search there are a couple other commercial utilities that do the same thing.
