Whats your opinion of them?

I hear them and say to myself "hey that sounds good", but realize that its not because of anything new that was added to the song, but because I like the original song.

Some examples of crap remixes off the top of my head:
Bone Thugz N Harmony - Home, which was a remix of Phil Collins' "Take Me Home"
Puff Daddy - Come with Me, which was a remix of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir"
Shaggy - Mr. Boombastic, which was a remix of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On"

*no poll for a reason

I like the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony one. Love Phil Collins and Genisis as well. The one by P Diddy (or whatever the hell he's calling himself this week) is an abortion. Haven't heard the other one.

I prefer the original Tears for Fears version. Donnie Darko was a good movie, but that song... anyway, generally I hate covers, with a few exceptions: Bauhaus doing David Bowie ("Ziggy Stardust" in particular), REM doing Suzanne Vega, and that's about it.

Remixes can be ok, especially of New Order, Front 242 and occasionally Depeche Mode (but most remixes of their songs are horrible).

Generally speaking I find remixes/covers irritating.

EDIT: I have to qualify that by saying I hate most music anyway.

True. That cover is a lot better than the Tears for Fears version...

I read somewhere that one of the guys in Tears for Fears prefers the cover to their original.

Interesting. What I like about the original is the sense of ambiguity it has, whereas the cover is unequivocally ridden with pathos.
