The Bullfrog thread has reawakened my fond memories of sim games in the late 90's

From Sim City Classic to SC2K

Sim Tower, Railroad Tycoon 2, Sim Copter, the Bullfrog games.

Good memories.

I'm still disappointed at how poorly my then high quality P2-266 ran SC3k

SC4 + Rush Hour is $19.99 at BB...worth it? I might pick it up for kicks this week. I think I remember playing a pirated copy when it was new, and finding it too easy...

I still have all my old sim games in boxes, including my copy of simfarm that I stole from a friend. Good thing too, since his dad later threw away all the old games (after we all left for college :p )

Edit: by stole I mean "borrowed with permission and never got around to returning"

Yeah, I liked that one.

Also liked Sim Ant.

Sim Tower was good, although the damn limits on how many stairs and escalators and elevators you could have were annoying.

True! I loaded sim tower on my laptop about 4 years ago in a fit of nostalgia and I actually managed to get the lauded "TOWER" rating that I never could pull as a kid.

I think so. There are tons of mods that make it more enjoyable, too.

I lost the CD when I moved back in '03 :( I downloaded the demo and like to mess around with it occasionally.

Tropico was awesome. I still look for it in the bargain bin since I lost my CD. :(

Does anyone know why pollution never disappears after the polluting building is destroyed? I waited DECADES and pollution never went away, couldn't rebuild anything in the area of that building. Piece of ****** pissed me off so I stopped playing. Apart from that it could have been good though :)

Sim Ant was an interesting concept, but it was way too easy to beat.

This talk about Sim tower is making me want to dig up my old copy and start playing again.

why are you not crying "wrong forum" in this thread?

I was never good at the sim games but they were fun to just build up a city and fvck around with it

Game was so imbalanced too. All you had to do was give your enemies tributes until you walked in and just steamrolled them. :D

SimAnt was a ton of fun. I loved walling in a bunch of spiders and then populating it with a couple colonies of ants and watching them feast.

I also loved creating a city in SimCity and then unleashing constant storms/earthquakes/Godzilla on them.

Yeah it wasn't too difficult... but I was also only 10 when it came out. ;) Once you started spreading your colony to other squares you'd more or less win on auto-pilot, but it was still fun to play. :)

Really? I've been waiting on that for quite some time, the SC series is my favorite PC game series of all time.

I'm probably the only person on the planet that had SimLife...not Simearth, but SimLife.

It was considered pretty heavy AI back then. The game had some pretty cutting edge tech in there. If you could even really call it a game (it wasn't particularly fun).

You created a species and let it run around the planet. That's pretty much it.
