I always use USPS. Cheaper and faster than UPS or FEDEX regular shipping.
And USPS does offer tracking.

I use this to get my supplies as the post office does not carry all the sizes of boxes, or labels.

true but i wish they would automatically give it to you instead of having to keep telling them you want it, quite a hassle if you ask me. if they scan all their package they would at least know what happen to all the lost package that was wasn't scanned. :D

You can get the delivery confirmation automatically, with no extra charge, by following the instructions posted in another thread here. I stick with USPS as well, since the price over time ratio can't be beaten especially with smaller packages. And definitely stock up on the boxes if you even ship occasionally -- I almost never see them available at the post offices here, and the ones that do have it force you to beg for one.

Good deal.

Does anyone know where to buy larger boxes, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts for a good price?

Staples charges an arm and a leg for that stuff.

faster perhaps, but by far fedex ground is the cheapest; other than really light packages where with insurance and dc the usps is even cost. a 60 pound package with fedex ground is $20 or so (versus $66.45 for usps priority or $30 for parcel post without options like dc and insurance). now that's cheap. and fedex ground comes with tracking and insurance included too. and best of all I NEVER WAIT IN LINES! that's money in the bank to me.

Ok guys ... I got a little inside info. Apparently USPS is phasing out the free shipping supplies b/c, surprise-surprise, they're losing a TON OF MONEY ON IT!!! Soon (I don't know when), they're going to start charging for the supplies and eventually phase it out entirely. Just thought I'd give you guys the heads up to START STOCKING UP NOW. I cannot confirm this information obviously -- however I heard it from a very friendly woman I know that works at the post office ;-)

Do they just give it away for free...? THey don't charge nothing? I registered and just put down "home business" for my business name... i wonder if that would work?

Probably because 1) you have to order 25-50 boxes at a time... 2) many found out about this and are using the boxes for other things than sending priority mail :(....

I used to do a lot of flebay business and it was a piece of cake to have all my stuff ready to go before I got to the post office.

A funny thing is I had alot of left over boxes and tried to take them to three post offices to return, none would take them...wierd.

Also in case you don't know about it...fedex has a new ground service called home delivery...if you and your recepient are in 'home delivery' cities this is really cheap. I shipped a set of rims for $30 and a couple scanjet 4c's for $11 a pop, got there in 2 days.

These are great. The smaller "Priority Mail" boxes are perfect for video tapes and CDROMs.

If you actually ship via Priority Mail, you have to pay $3.30 even for a light package. With just a LITTLE bit of hassle, you can assemble these boxes inside-out, giving a "plain" shipping box that you can use to ship light stuff by first class or heavier stuff by parcel post. I have never been hassled for not using Priority Mail.

I wouldn't suggest the inside out trick, I tried it and they got peeced at me and charged me priority mail price.
