The lack of detection is mainly due to operator error. There can be operator error while doing a full body pat down or strip search with the same result.

A Full body scan is not the system, simply one part of the system.

The only thing that upsets me is the saving of all images. While saving images for a short period of time may be necessary for court cases, audit, ect there should be no way that unauthorized persons can access these files or anyway to remove those files from the system.

Thats false. The scanners just don;t work/pick up items. You can read many places. The fact is we were lied to. They produce more radaition then they say, they can save the pictures, and they would not have stopped the underwear bomber.
Here is a quick search...

The problem is these scanners can’t find items which have a low density, such as powder, many liquids or thin plastics. They can’t detect any object having the same or lower density than clothing.
They can’t detect explosives in the form of a fine powder like that used in the attempted bombing of Flight 253. Neither the backscatter x-ray or MMW scanner could have detected the “Panty Bomber’s” explosive in the airport.

According to Ben Wallace, the UK Conservative MP, tests showed that the new scanners failed to detect a variety of low-density materials, including, plastic, chemicals and liquids. The waves pass through these materials, hitting the body and then bouncing back, revealing only the underlying skin.

Perfect. Will ensure the line to go through the body scanner is shorter while the dumb asses get strip-searched.

I doubt that most people (even the ones who act like Internet badasses in the P&N forum) will be willing to sit in line for an hour the day before Thanksgiving and get strip searched when they can just spend 5 minutes waiting in the short line for the body scanner. There might be a few people who want to make a stand for political/publicity reasons, but most are too lazy to do so.

This will be like one of those "gas strikes" that people always get excited about but never participate in.

The only reason D and R are on the same side is because it is an easy issue that means very little either way that most people do not like.

The common enemy is an easy tool to build a false unity.
