HR, you are a bit off on a number of things.
1. Profiling. It just does not work. The 9-11 hijackers were not in turbans or hajib's (is that the right word?) They were dressed in dockers and polo shirts. They would not have been profiled unless you stopped everyone that was not a true cracker.
2. Full scan. True C4 is tiny. There are other thnigs it can be hiddenin in small quantities thatw ould be enough, when combined, to get the job done. If these guys wanted to they would do just that and render our new system useless.
3. People joke about "body cavity" but there you go. I do not believe that C4 needs O2 to go......
4. The 9-11 hijackers had no explosives or guns. I believe they had plastic knives? (I would have to check). the only reason they were successful is that we keep the pilots door open.
The problem with this is that it is robbing us of our own freedoms. Agreed that this is not something that is truly a freedom, but to be searched like this with no record (not that the hijackers had one) is rediculous.
Also, even the news is not playing fair. They brought up the example of the attempted package bomb when that was NOT carried by an individual and NOT on a passenger flight. It had NOTHING to do with the TSA scanning and yet it was mentioned several times as an example of attempted terrorism that this will somehow combat.
Question for you. How many attempts have been made in the past 9 years to hijack a plane flying out of a US airport, successful or not?
We are overspending on a hyper-inflated threat.
We might as well be putting up radio jammers in our houses to prevent the Red Threat from spying on us.....
