Remember when that nut-case Moonbeam warned you about the problem of Nuclear Waste?

I told you it was a lie that we would ever clean up, that we are pigs and you can see it by looking at the fact that in everything we do we create a sty and it is in the nature of pigs to promise to be neat as a pin, tomorrow, with tomorrow always a day away?

This should cheer up that that fool has had to say:

Blah blah blah. Your Obamessiah chose to leave Yucca Mountain closed. It's the Democrats' fault.

I don't think the technology used in Yucca Mountain are perfect. They are state-of-the-art, though, and it should at least be used as a temporary storage facility until better solutions come up.

So lets ramp up the coal plants.

Liberals think that humans are the problem (which in many ways we are) and want most of the population to be exterminated in their final solution in order to achieve their socialist, sustainable utopia on planet earth. LOL.

Just kidding.

What we need is politically correct genocide to wipe out three quarters of the Earth's population.

I'll bet you think I'm kidding.

Why are you on the internet? Your internet usage is causing global warming via the electricity used to communicate your post and the hosting of this post on this website.

So unless you've discovered a way to power your computer through your own sense of superior smugness (South Park reference) about how much better you are then the rest of us peons I'd suggest you stop hurting mother Gaea via your continual blathering internet postings.

Every time you post a coal plant gets its wings.

Talking clean, is easy.

Being clean, like supporting Nuclear Energy, is hard.

Moonbeam's right, like it or not. And the spent nuclear fuel at various reactor sites is nothing compared to the nightmare of the Hanford nuclear reservation in Washington state.

While the Yucca mountain site may be less than ideal, there's probably nothing that is. We've spent untold sums having pencil-necks study the problem for decades, only to have the Obama Admin invoke the same battle cry repubs use wrt healthcare- "Start Over!"

Maybe we need to turn to the much maligned French to figure it out- they're the only nation that actually deals with nuclear waste in a sane fashion... I don't even want to think about the sort of disasters that are brewing in the former Soviet Union...

What is with Craig and Moonbeam requiring self validation in their posts?

Personally, I like to throw that in there because it makes the ego fat heads, who are actually inwardly quite insecure, draw up questions about it to sow seeds of doubt with the hope to imply I might be as insecure as them. You worry that if I'm really prophetic then you might be nothing at all. This was all made clear to you when Gulliver met the Lilliputians.

Thomas Saporito has been a very busy man in the State of Florida. Saporito has sued in Florida Courts to shut down an aging nuclear facility that he believes is no longer safe.

http://www.moneyteachers.org/Florida.htm

" Pictured above is the Florida Power and Light Company - Turkey Point Nuclear Plant located in south Florida. The twin nuclear reactors were licensed for operation in the early 70s just like the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant that is the center of controversy due to radioactive tritium leaking into the environment. The Vermont legislature last week voted down the Entergy's request to operate the nuclear plant for an additional 20-years. Similarly, the State of Florida should seek to shut-down the FPL Turkey Point Nuclear facility. These aged nuclear power plants were only designed to operate safely for a 40-year life-span. However, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has been rubber-stamping licenses to extend operation of aging nuclear plants for an additional 20-years and well-beyond the safety parameters of the original licenses. The government remains unaccountable for the tons and tons of high-level nuclear waste which is currently stored at 104 nuclear power plants.

The reactor vessels are made of stainless steel that is bombarded by high-level radioactive particles day-in and day-out which embrittles the reactor vessel making the vessel very susceptible to cracking . Should the vessel crack, a loss-of-coolant accident would result causing an uncontrolled meltdown of the entire plant releasing unwanted high-level radioactive particles into the environment - much like the Chernobyl melt down years back. Notably, the NRC cannot guarantee that anyone would be able to timely evacuate the area during a general alert at the plant. Fact is, the NRC cannot guarantee anything related to commercial nuclear power generation."

So my thoughts on this situation would be, what happens to a site like this if a worst case scenario occurred, like a Chernobyl or worse, and they also had all this spent radioactive waste sitting around waiting to add to the environmental calamity? We would be talking 100s or 1000s of times more radiation spread into the environment than a simple containment spill or a cracked vessel could ever produce.

We need this radioactive crap cleaned up at these sites IMMEDIATELY. Even old shut down reactors still store this deadly toxic waste on site. Yucca Mountain should be used IMMEDIATELY to possibly mitigate a future disaster at one of these aging power plants. Even if it is only used as a more temporary facility until something more secure is decided on, it's the best we have ATM and we can't afford to wait until some accident happens at one of these old sites.

Missing from talks about nuclear waste always seems to be the data about exactly how much waste we are talking about, and exactly how much space is needed to contain it. I don't know the numbers. Do you?

There isnt any hope. Both of you have a severe need to be validated. Mommy not hug you enough as a child?

50 years of waste can be contained in a football field. But if we lifted our ridiculous ban on enrichment our waste requirements would go down.

So, isn't moonie's logic - nuclear power plants produce waste, humans aren't perfect therefore we won't take care of the waste properly?

Isn't that some kind of logical fallacy?

Yep, if we stack it, we could easily go hundreds of years using up no more then a football field.

Heck, why not just dump it in the middle of the ocean? 100ft is about how far radiation can travel through water, the metal is heavy, so it will stay at the bottom, it wouldn't eradicate all oceanic life as we know it, we don't/can't produce enough waste to do that.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess Genx87 has a point after all, why be delimited by a requirement to actually validate the truth of what they say? Such self justification needs never stopped people like Dick Cheney and so many others, who simply open their mouths and fully expect that what ever lie of the day they say will be taken as the gospel truth.

This has been proposed but can you imagine the uproar from somebody like Moonbeam if we dumped it in the mariana's trench?

You have a poster of Dick Cheney in your dorm room. Just admit it.
