remember those $400 rebates with new computers?

anyone here acutally bought a computer and got the $400 isp rebates? if so, are you still stuck with the 3 year dial-up contract? does it bug u that u r forced to be on dial-up? just wondering. i remember people used to tell me what an awesome deal it was to get a computer for such a low price. but always figured that being stuck on dialup an extra 3 years would probably have drove me insane.

i remember the days when i had to sell the prodigy at Best Buy. what a joke. $21.95/month for 3 years. heks my dsl (1.5mb/384kb) is only 34/month. plus the stores only pushed those deals because they made so much money on it

Remember them? Didn't they just stop doing them 2 months ago? They still have $200/2-year promos.

I guess people that do them are usually first-time PC buyers and probably don't know too much about broadband (or even it's existence).
