Does anyone remember Link19 who hated and bashed Windows 98/ME back in 2004-2006.
That was me. Yes I am the same person. I was in my early 20s then now I am last year of my 30s at 39 years old.
Its been a really long time. I stopped posting in late 2006. Eventually lost that account or something (no was never banned under that account despite some 9X lovers and even others asking for it as some found my rants annoying and ruining certain threads back then) or could not remember password and email account was closed so could not recover. Then I think I created a new account around 2010 then somehow lost that email or password years later then came onboard with this account in the last few years.
Do any long time lurkers remember me and my hatred and rants against Windows 9X back then? I imagine many lurkers have since been long gone but anyone still left either under the same alias or a different one who remembers.
Its stunning it has been 17 years since 2006 here in 2023. I mean time really flies.
I hated Windows 9X back then because it bothered me that it was completely different form NT (XP and 2000 at the time) and software makers continued to support it too long with same binaries compatible with 2 district OS archs and I had thoughts of cross platform emulation and reduced performance as opposed to native same NT OS (aka Linux on wine as opposed to native Linux apps example). Plus I thought 9X very inferior based on my Dad's thoughts form IBM vendors and other techs who stated Windows was awful compared to most other operating systems and when referred to Windows it was 9X, not the NT series. Those are where my hatred of 9X bashing came from because there was a superior product in NT available yet too much effort was pout into 9X back then and some agreed with me.
Anyway it was all water under the bridge and has been since like 2007-2008. And they stopped with ME in 2000, but the software makers foot dragging compatibility with 98/ME in addition to the completely different 2000/XP through 2004 2005 and even 2006 to some extent probably held back Windows and software performance at the time or I thought it did. But that was so long ago and water under the bridge now and for a long while.
I guess good to say high to those who remember form a long while ago and those new here now.
