Remember each folder's settings

On my Vista64, I have it set to remember each folder's settings. So how come it never remembers that I have it in "Detail" mode with certain columns activated?

I do have it. However, I ran it just now, and it didn't clear my folder setting.

Do you know of any particular setting that would clear the folder setting on CCleaner?

Otherwise, from seeing the results after running CCleaner, it seems like it's something else and not CCleaner.

I don/t know about 64 bit but this fix
worked for me.

does this work in windows 7? it's worse than vista for this. folders that have mp3s in by default are viewed as 'music', same for videos etc etc. in vista you could right click > customize on a drive and choose general or whatever and that would do the drive. in windows 7 it ignores this and you have to do each folder, 1 by 1!

I have noticed that as well. It is especially bad if you have drives that are usb. I have an external HD that loses the folder settings every time I unplug it. I am running build 7260 too which is really close to being the final so I hoped that would be fixed. Looks like it isn't.


Just give me the xp way of being able to apply the same layout to every folder.

true dat - apart from my usb/firewire drives. they remember the settings but this would be down to the desktop.ini file (i think that's the one) that's created whenever i set the view type.

just wish i didnt have to

Thanks, I have that particular setting off by default, so that's even stronger evidence that it's not the CCleaner causing it.

In fact from the other posts, I get the sense that this is just a Microsoft screw up. It almost makes me feel better that it's not some quirky individual problem on my own computer.

I bought my first Netbook yesterday, and...

While I was cleaning the 'cruft' out of it (trialware, et cetera) I noticed a similar 'check box' in Windows, that reverts the folder settings back to default on reboot.

Actually, I haven't been to sleep yet, so yesterday is still today for me - but when I awake tomorrow - which will be later today for you - I'll make a screenie of that also.

Sooo... later today/tomorrow, I'll get back to you in this thread - if that makes sense...
