Man, I swear every server is infested with cheaters nowadays. Impossible to find a decent game, because one cheater ruins everything. And what is everyone's infatuation with dust? If I play dust one more time my head is going to explode....

Maybe it's time has come and gone. Bring on CS 2.

You know you've been playing CS too long when:

1. You remember the sniper rifle with the night vision scope.
2. You remember when the only way to tell CT's from T's was sleeve length.
3. You remember when the colt had a scope and a silencer, and T's could buy it....and it was basically god.
4. Gun-running!
 
hehe i wasnt around for the CS you speak of in the "you know youve been playing CS too long if.." but i do remember when it was good clean fun without cheaters. i used to play all the time, i even ran a server myself for it.

back then i didnt even have to use punk buster or anything to protect my server, cause there was just like no one who even bother3ed cheating.

It's still fun for me, I am an admin on a great server, and my clan is so much fun to play with. If the good people stick around, the cheaters will eventually give up, and realize they either can learn to play the game the right way, or end up being banned from every good server out there.

What I find more annoying is people constantly crying cheater! every time they get shot. People do get head shots, and people do have good K😀 ratios.
 
kinda wierd to think CS has been around for 3 years in a few months...but I agree, I used to play 2-3 hours minimum a day, now I only play once every 2-3 weeks. Gun running, camping behind the bulletproof windows in the ct base on siege....changing your name to show where the last guy was when you were dead...aww yes, the memories.
 
Check out Urban Terror at urbanterror.net its a Quake 3 total conversion Mod, there is no cheating going on. I have been playing for over 6 months and love it.
 
Were you around when Doom would kick down any non-Doom network users with its broadcasts?
Were you around when Snipes was rocking as network game?
 
I swear, I haven't played CS at all since Ghost Recon came out. I just enjoy the fact that the maps are big enough in GR to actually force you to employ some actual tactics instead of just running like crazy to be the first team to the choke points on the small CS maps. The cheating/cheating accusation thing has gotten way out of hand too....pretty much a LAN-only thing for me these days. Oh well...

all the ppl i lan with don't like counterstrike, they have something against it... but they do play urban terror. i dunno, i didn't get the same CS rush playin it. heh. i should install it back on and play a bit....
 
It must be the servers you guys are play. I help admin a server called Offlimitz and it's pretty easy to catch a cheater and then just ban by WonID. Cheaters are getting pretty smart though. Even if CSGuard scans your HD, there are ways around it. Our server isnt overun with cheaters, its actually pretty clean. The server is almost always full and hard to get into. We have a core set of probably 50-60 players who come around at all times, so we know they dont cheat and we actually know the. Also the server is run out of a gamecenter in florida and they always have lan people on there, that you know cant and aren't cheating.

If you have a smart admin who can catch cheaters (all you have to do is watch and know how the cheats work) you can run a clean server if you have strict rules and actually enforce them. I still love CS and play it all the time.

I've read that OGC guys wont be making it anymore because its such a pain to keep working around. Dunno if this is true or not, but god i hope they stop. OGC is freaking sad as hell.

OGC - is basically the number one used cheat for CS. It allows all sorts of freaking nasty cheats (wall hacks, aimbots) all the good stuf in life.

I never liked Team Fortress. Its too much like quake. I never cared for quake. Its just too fast paced with no real point other than killing = no team work. With CS there is a point and i enjoy playing clan matches and doing it as a team.
 
And if you really have the urge to play some old sckool CS, you can go the langames.net and download all the previous beta versions of CS (except 7, and why would anybody want to play that version anyways). The only problem might be (actually is) finding any other servers that are playing your version.

I know what you mean.. same thing in Quake

RA3MAP1 for Rocket Arena 3 drives me up the farking wall.... WHY... it's sooooo overplayed.....
 
CS is still fun, you just gotta find good servers to play at. Good admins+good anti-cheat usually take care of 99% of cheaters. I'm looking forward to 1.4 to come out and CS:Condition Zero. Once CS:CZ comes out, I think it'll bring a bunch of renewed interest in the game since there is supposed to be a 1.5 update to CS that makes it compatible with some of the stuff the CS:CZ is doin.

I don't want CS 1.4, supposedly you are going to have to pay monthly for the servers once they get it up and running, plus you won't be able to download it, you will have to purchase it seperately. I really hope our server stays at 1.3, till they are sure whats going to happen.

Our server does have one bad admin, this ben guy. He just abuses everyone in there, and he even tries to slay me! :Q

Why would I slay you when it's so much easier to just kill you? Plus, I cant slay other admins 🙁 It's ok though, you'll be gettin it soon enough buddy! Just wait till I get home from work!

Amen on Dust! Waaaay too many servers running that map nowadays. Been playing DoD and MOH:AA instead now. Mebbe 1.4 will get my interest again.
 
ah beta 1 was awsome, gun running was supreme, and desert was the king map

oh and for some reason in the lab we played, the majorityof the comoputers couldnt buy ammo for the shotgun, no realreason, just didnt want to do it
 
I'm playing at Wulf's Server and its Clean.... but not much open slots since lots of people joins. <-----You'll see roughly 10 to 20 cheat detects each night(Losers with no skill). Deagle is my primary weapon!!! watchout!!! 🙂

I do, although nowhere near as much as I used to. CS was fun when I first played it, but I kept going back to TFC. Yes, it wasn't as "realistic" as CS, but I enjoyed the ability to play different classes and not just choose a different weapon to determine my role. I usually ended up being Medic on offense, Engineer on defense. For those who say there was no "team" in TFC you obviously never played on a good server. Yes, most public servers are just overrun with people 'looking out for #1,' but the same is true in the same percentage of CS games (moreso IMO.) I've never felt the same kind of teamwork you get on defense in some games of TFC. A crew of engineers and a couple of soldiers working together, rebuilding each other's guns, reloading armor and dispensors to fight off wave after wave of attack and adjusting their point of defense as the flags/keys/cap points shift. Mucho fun.

I guess that's part of the reason why I love RTCW so much now. It combines the best of TFC and CS.
