The simple joys of cost cutting, where as you used to get a nice logitech or microsoft mouse that would work for years with no problems and needed nothing more than the occaisional cleaning.
Now you get some pile of crap Dell branded mouse that seems to have a nervous tic that will send your cursor wildy flying about the screen making you click on random items or open files that you didn't want to.

Its enough to make you want to take it outside and beat it on a sidewalk until it comes apart and then take the remains and run over them with your car a few times just to make sure that the worthless heap of electronics will never make you click where you don't want to ever again.

funny
we have dozens of Dell mice here at work, used 10+hrs a day and not a single problem

Enough with the feeble attempts at Dell/HP bashing around here... its repetitive and hardly justified.

Who the hell cares. I used a Dell ball mouse until two months ago and it didn't matter. I switched to a cheapie optical and I could care less.

Have you noticed that the new ones get a weird squeak after about 2 days of usage? Mine sounds like a group of seagulls at this point.

Remember when the cheapest computer you could find was well over $1500? Man, those were the days.

Remember when your 6 month old $1500 gaming rig would be beat by a new $500 Dell box? Oh wait, that time is now.

For many years Dell used Logitech and MS mice branded as their own. But if you flipped them over they would still show who they were made by. We have 6 newer dell computers here at work and 4 of them have the crap ass that are "made by" Dell, and none of them work properly.

I have a Compaq laptop at home BTW, I think its great. This isn't a lets bash Dell because its Dell post. This is a lets bash Dell because their cost cutting measures annoy the living shiat out of me when I am trying to work, or nef at work.

Hmm. The Dells we have here in a 24x7 environment haven't had any trouble.

That isn't the point. The point is that I shouldn't have to buy a new mouse to replace the ones that come with the computers. The ones that come with the computers should work right to begin with.

No problems with Dell mice here. As a matter of fact, I prefer their new mice to Logitech mice, but still like MS mice the best.

Same thing as a few others mentioned. We purchased over 60 Dell computers last fiscal year and the mice have been fine. We have 50 more coming in later this week. However with this batch we upgraded to optical mice.

Yep from the days when the Computer Shopper was like getting the Sears wishbook monthly.

Dell mice are fine. What's the problem? I go through 10 or so a week at work and have yet to have an issue.

My Dell at my previous job did that, actually all of the new Dells we purchased there did. The new dell laptop I have now (with Dell mouse) does not do it.

Its the optical ones I have a problem with.
Are you using them with the Dell mousepads that have the little semi-reflective 3D cube pattern on them? If so, throw those away, they fvck with optical mice.

Other than that (I don't think they use those mousepads anymore anyways), no problems with hundreds of their optical mice here.

pwnt

Actually thats not "pwnt" as Dell's are perfectly fine computer and pretty much work as well as any homebuilt PC. yes... I said that.

The optical mice work perfectly fine for us... dozens of them in production and not a complaint. Our 3yr old legacy MS mice are starting to fail though...
