Remains of astronauts discovered...

I saw the picture of that patch on CNN earlier today. It made me wonder what the crew went through in those few seconds/minutes as everything was happening.

Same here as everything I've heard over the years told me that anything that burns up that high in our atmosphere will "burn up" and not make it's way down to the Earth's soil 🙁

I would guess that any bones found would still have some bit of DNA left in them somewhere; I'm pretty sure that's how they'll eventually identify them positively. Perhaps now at least one family will have something of their loved ones to bury and begin to come to closure with...
 
I'm thinking when it broke up something caught the air, killing alot of speed (while probably getting incinerated in the process) but allowing the remains to stay in something recognizably human (as grisly as that sounds, I would hate to have been the one to find it...). If I had to think it through without seeing the results I wouldn't have not thought this possible, but it's the only way I can explain it.

The good thing is that they probably didn't feel any pain. You don't survive very long at that speed......🙁 This must be a pretty gruesome task. I once had a girlfriend who was worked in a rescue capacity, and she told me horror stories about recovering remains from a plane crash...🙁

If they found recognizable parts, that most likely means the cabin stayed intact for a while....
 
They interviewed this one old dude in coveralls who discovered a body. He said that it was DEFINITELY recognizeable as a human so it had to be pretty much intact.

They were wearing space suits and they were still in a shuttle that was made to handle those temperatures... I bet the shuttle weathered most of the atmosphere and still protected the astronauts from being disintegrated until it finally peeled away... like an ice cube in hot water. By the time they hit the ground, all that was left were random parts.

Thats a really grisly thought, but probably close to what happened.
I cant imagine the fear and feelings of helplessness the crew had.
