Before I do this just want to know what to expect, I'm going to reload 98SE and I have a Gig of nice Crucial RAM, I have the work-a-round set up now but what happens when i reload the OS? Will it boot?

There should be no problems as long as you have set the MaxFileCache under [VCACHE] in system.ini.

Windows 98SE can access a total of up to 2GB of RAM.

right, but that's my question, if I reformat my HDD and reload 98SE can I get Windows to boot up to get to my system.ini?

Yes.

Of course if you have problems doing so, there is nothing stopping you from taking out some RAM while you perform the installation and adding it back later.

2000 or XP would better utilize, you might wanna think about upgrading. My 98SE system acted funky when I had over 512MB RAM.

Cool thanks, this sounds like what I was looking for, something I can fall back on if I can't boot back into Windows. Thanks for all the responses, I thought about taking out RAM and just doing it that way of course but was hoping to learn something if there was anything to learn with this operation. And I'm also dual booting with XP, just have 98SE still around because I actually like it.
Thanks
