i'm too sick of civ2 AI to go back: just randomly declare war on you, only to get their asses beat, then they refuse to sign peace. Finally when they do agree to peace in about a few turns later they declare war again.

Yeah, civ3c fixed so many little bugs from 2. There's still that semi crummy ai that declares war when it has no chance.

One of the two best games, ever. CivII and X-Com. Speaking of CivII, I gotta dig out Alpha Centauri and give that a try again. I love attacking other civs with swarms.

Well what do you enjoy in 2 better then 3? I love the culture boarders, not having to manually create trading routes, etc. I would like teraforming back though.

I just reinstalled it a couple weeks ago. The music gave me some problems at first in XP but it resolved itself, don't ask how.

Civ 3 is slow. Waiting for the AI On a huge map took 4-5 minutes on my old 1.1. Needs a fast pc if you plan on getting threough a game in a decent amount of time.

But anyways, I've been a Civ fan for about 8 years. Definately my favorite series of all time.

Played a couple multiplayer games of Civ II gold with my brother over Xmas break. He got shafted on his starting location in the first game, so we gave that up after he struggled against enemies from all directions.

The next game was much closer. He actually completed some of the wonders (I had them all in the first game). He got lucky with a couple huts at the beginning so he started off faster. But, I did get pyramids, so I leapfrogged him in size pretty quickly. We took out the rest of the civilizations then gave up when we realized we had to try to defeat each other.

hahah fun ass game

There's actually a fast loading mod hosted somewhere on civfanatics.com. They describe a very sizable increase in speeds. Turning off ai movements & battle animations also speeds things up.

I'm working my way through the conquests personally. Trying to have them all at least on Monarch or better.

That's the newer one, right? Included in "Complete"? What exactly is different about it? I own the regular Civ II, Civ III, and Civ III PTW, but that's it...

New rule changes, tech tree changes, new civs, new units, new senarios, less buggy, etc. Best $10 I ever spent.

i tried to reinstall civ 3 on my computer, but xp doesn't like it .... when it gets to the main screen you can hear the music, but see nothing, monitor gives some kind of box saying out of hz range.... tried to fix it with the xp feature that lets you run it like its a 95/98 program but no dice, gave up.... anyone know how to fix that? I would like to play civ 3 but for now starcraft is keeping me busy

I fired up xcom the other day...it ran way too fast on my comp. ran a small util to slow down the system and the game was playable. i'll have to turn on the 486 this weekend and try again.
