I have a friend who is looking to get information on the opinions of people in the age group of 20-29. The survey is very short and should only take a few moments. People who believe in God and those don't are both welcome, but I think they are more looking for answers from people who do not go to church.

Done, but you may be sorry you asked.

"Why don't you go to a church?"
"They are wretched hives of ignorance and social conservatism."

Interesting survey. I imagine it is trying to find out why young people have zero interest in attending church, and how to inspire them back in to the church.
I tried to answer it appropriately to that as a causal atheist/apathetic.

Lol.

Biased results are no problem. My friend realizes they are going to get very negative views of the church. That's what they got from me. But that's what they want to see.

Thanks for those that have answered the questions. Much appreciated.

I said I don't go to church because I don't believe, lol what causes are they hoping to find? People just grow out of it due to our secular society where your faith doesn't matter, or the parents didn't pass on religion in the first place, there's not much to it imho and there's nothing they can do about it unless they want to become like islamic countries where state and religion come together.

I know religious people that even enjoy church who don't go because it conflicts with their schedule, they don't feel like waking up early, etc.

I also know a couple of Catholics that are fed up with the institution of the Church, so they don't attend anymore.

There are plenty of people who seem to think The Handmaid's Tale is an instruction manual.

I think they are more searching for what NOT to do, with regards to being a church. They recognize how the church offends a lot of non-christians and really portrays a negative image.

I just remembered I forgot to insert a "negative" experience with a christian I had.
This guy was asking for donations for an orphanotrophy and when I said: "it doesn't interest me" (in the sense of "I'm not interested"), he answered: "oh but you don't do this for interest!" (in the sense of "you don't do it for your self-interest", it's a bit lost in translation).
I wanted to punch him in the face, what I meant was perfectly clear.

Having thought about it some more, I should have said "willful ignorance," or maybe "anti-intellectualism." Plain old ignorance isn't that hard to fix, but when being ignorant is idealized... that is an entirely different animal.

2. What is your religious background/heritage, if any?

What is your religious background/heritage, if any? Catholic-Christian

Protestant-Christian

Jewish

Muslim

Other (please specify)

Apparently they're only expecting responses from religious people.

"Did you attend church as a child" is a radio button, but "Do you currently attend church" is checkboxes. :hmm:

Also, the age field is a text area, so you can enter your age in unary, or in Latin, or however you please.

Yeah, basically.

I put "Christian-Catholic" because my parents are sort of that. (They don't attend church or anything but they believe something to do with the Bible, I guess... I don't know what.)

I'm outside the age bracket... But basically I don't go to church because I do not identify myself as being Christian, nor any religion for that matter.

Why? Too much for you to check the "Other" box and put whatever in the text box? Or just check other and leave it at that?

Why do people try to make things harder than they are?

"Never ascribe to malice, that which can be explained by incompetence."
