Really? I'd say that in light of current events, the number of pirates has been increasing steadily for the last decade.

And the "kicking religion out of every facet of life" kick has only been going on for the last 30 years or so...not surprisingly, during the exact same time that the behavior of Americans in general has gone downhill.
Just look at discipline problems in schools they have now, compared to just 20 years ago...it's not even comparable, really. Far more problems now.
Sure, it does go deeper than just people not being as religious as they used to be, but that IS a definite factor.

Correlation is not causation, which is what PieIsAwesome was trying to tell you.

You can't say something is a definite factor, because you really have no idea. You just see X increasing and Y decreasing and believe that they must somehow be related. Personally, I don't see really see too much correlation between the values we hold sacred in this country or the morals we rely on every day and christianity. There have been a few studies that point to morality being pretty universal and not particularly associated with one brand of religion.

This whole religion bs just screams of logical fallacies. Almost every logical fallacy listed religion (and not just one religion but all of them) does. This screams "lie" to me, because of it.

The way I look at it is this. If I don't believe, live my life to the fullest, be "good" human, and think critically about religion then when I die if God exists He would accept my apology that I was wrong then let me in to Heaven.

If OTOH He doesn't want to accept my apology that based upon my critical thinking and life experiences then I would regret nothing, because I refuse to pay for "original sin" that I didn't commit. If God sends me to Hell, because my rational thoughts wanted evidence of His existence then so be it. I am okay with that. I believe in the scientific method, and I want proof. Some people just see natures beauty as proof of God, but I see it as proof that lifeforms grow to suit their enviornment (which is proof of evolution).

Anything that can't be explained is "proof of God". If it can't be explained by science, then it proves God does according to religious people. So what happened to the Earth-centric universe? We locked up the guy who published a book, and ex-communicated him for heretical views. What happened to Earth was created in 6 days stuff? It's not really days, it's 6 "Periods". What happened to when the Earth was only a few thousand years old? Well looks like they were short by a year or two (that was exaggeration btw if your sarcasm meter is broken). What happened to every other thing that when science has evidence of being true and *could* be conflicting to religious beliefs, religion tends to say it's the work of the Devil and isn't true. After some time though, religious leaders "revise" the "meaning" of religious texts because they realize they don't have proof otherwise.

Religion and Science could co-exist, unfortunately both sides tend to attack one another and say they can't co-exist. Religion usually is the one commiting the attacks, but not always. Religion just screams "this is real, if you don't believe it (or what I believe) you are going to Hell/jail/ex-communicated/etc", to intimidate and scare people to believe something.
 
I am Catholic and I don't understand these types of people. God is the only one who can judge and yet they pass judgment on his behalf and already condemn you to Hell. I don't understand how they can't see in the arrogance in presuming what God will do.
