I agree, but still, "laying on of hands" should be done by no one anymore. Religions that think they can heal or bless someone by touching them is far from what the Bible teaches.

Please read your book. The bible does say believers can heal with a touch.

Mark 16:16-18

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

FYI according to Jesus, those who die from poison or can't heal the sick with a touch are damned to hell.

1 Corinthians 13:8

That was all done away with after Jesus. The Messiah was identified and there was no need for it anymore.

You're taking that out of context. He was speaking to the disciples.

Huh I posted a quote from Mark 16, were Jesus says those that believe in him will be able to perform those miracles. It is still applicable today. Jesus didn't do away with it, he started it.

Read the passage. maybe read more to get the context of it.

By your logic we should read Genesis 6:14 the same way. Which says, "Make for yourself an ark......" So, that means we should all be building arks right?

What you think that only applied to the disciples?

He was talking directly to them. Then they continued their preaching. And, the things they were doing is not what they were preaching about. The disciples never preached about performing miracles, signs, etc. They only performed them.

yeah, so what is a "garf?"

It appears to be an unknown word. Thought i had heard it before, meaning "rubbish or doctrine"

Might be an Aussie word or it may well be a Sea moose word.

Either way the grammar/spelling nazis are gonna get me

Your taking the passage wrong (are you a Jehovah's Witness? They really like this passage).

First, it is like saying "If the moon doesn't rise, the sun will" Does that mean the moon won't rise? no. It just means that the sun is more reliable then the moon.

He said it explicitly at the end of the chapter.

Now he does make mention that prophecy will disappear (though, he doesn't link the other attributes to it) "But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away." However, unless you think perfection has come (I don't) I would say it is safe to say that prophecy should be here.

ok, I'm done.

Let's look at how all that healing went on in biblical times. Jesus or his disciples healed 100% of the people they attempted to heal. These "faith healers" are in different religions with contrasting/contradicting beliefs. And, never "heal" 100% of the time if ever. Also, parts about drinking things deadly, speaking in tongues, etc. These people are not doing that at all.

Your corrupt mind will see anything in everything. It is due to ignorance. A blessing is being conferred by the "laying on of hands" in that image. You have surmised otherwise because you have been raised to believe that all acts are sexual.

No, we've been taught that all acts by priests are sexual. You know who taught us that? The priests.

i always thought arguing about what religion says and meant was similar to arguing if batman could beat the incredible hulk or some other superheroes. actually, i had a lot of fun doing that in middle school.
