btw, do you guys think I should go with HDTV now or wait until there's a clear standard?

I'm a pessimist.

I would wait for standards to be hammered out more, more models/features to be introduced, more channels to offer HDTV programming and prices to fall.

We'll probably jump to HDTV around 2010 or so.

Samsung is good, I own 2 Samsung monitors and a 27" Samsung TV in my Family room... never had a problem, excellent image.

Pannys are best. Their Plasmas are really the best every reviewer will tell you so.

I think Samsung is second or right there because they are tring to make a name..

I have a Daewoo TV.... 😕

Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, Philips, and Magnavox all sound nice. Can't think of any others ATM.

My 13 yr old Sharp TV still going good. They still make TV's? But anyways I'm a Sony TV fan, most of them last at least 10 yrs.

The best bang for the buck in TV right now is Samsungs DLP TVs. Please check them out. You will thank me for it. Nothing is clearer and cheaper. I wish I had gone this route.🙁 Text

I've seen far too many Sony's die, get fixed, and then promptly crap out again. That and they are grossly overpriced for the features you would get from another brand.

I think Samsung & Toshiba have some of the best values. Competitive pricing, great list of features, great picture quality, and quite reliable as well.

so, I should cancel the repair order? He wants $50 just to come out to take a look at it. 🙁

Sonys are POS!

My 2 YO 36" XBR broke on me recently, my friend's 1 1/2 YO 65" XBR broke on him (and he's been waiting for 2 months for a Sony repairman. Apparently they are very busy) another friend's 57" 1 YO Sony broke too.

I just bought a Panasonic 50" LCD RPTV to replace it. No more Sony's for me every. Go look at some of the review sites out there and you'll see TONS of complaints about Sony and their quality.

POS I tell.

I have a 5 year old RCA 32inch that is still rocking. A lot of peopel slam them, low price so it must be junk. But I have never had a problem with them.

Since I had both a XBR- 36, 40 inch & a HD100 sat receiver go bad on me im now officially ANTI-Sony.

Sony Does have the new HD300 Sat receiver that's coming out but I must resist.

I will add, Sony USE to be really good, kinda like Fram oil filters. But now both of their products are poorly made. They still have their high price name, but the quality is not there.

I'm a fan of Panasonic. Never had good luck with Sony nor RCA. Can't say anything about Mitsushibi but they're supposed to be pretty good
