Releasing Torture documents

The British have shown some balls, and their judiciary has stood up to the US pressure to cover up to disgusting and illegal details of how the US tortured a British citizen.

From the article, which first Bush, and then Obama have tried to cover up, there is a section that involves exactly how he was tortured:

The 25 lines edited out of the court papers contained details of how Mr Mohamed's genitals were sliced with a scalpel and other torture methods so extreme that waterboarding, the controversial technique of simulated drowning, "is very far down the list of things they did," the official said.

So slicing a guy's balls is not torture somehow? I'll leave it to the neocon trolls here to come up with excuses for this.

But now, how can Bush, Cheney, Gonzales, and other not be investigated and prosecuted for torture is beyond me.

That is 100% torture, which is illegal under US law. Open and shut. So where is the will to hold people accountable? What has happened to this country?

Ugh. This is just terrible though I do agree this can only incite violence in the M.E. I think it's good decision by Obama to NOT release reports such as the right now.

Seems like the only "troll" here is the OP unless he can show where a "neocon" has stated that slicing genitals isn't "torture".

Show me one piece of evidence that Hitler personally ordered the extermination of the Jews. I want something typed, signed and unequivocally stating that camps must be set up across Europe.

I mean, that's basically what you said.

When would have been a good time to release the reports? I disagree with Obama with this. A helluva lot of crimes were committed by bush, we need to know what they are.

Facts are facts, and the truth is the truth. No matter how ugly the truth is, we can only remain free as long as we have access to it. It is not for our presumed "leaders" or anyone else to hide such information from us. Allowing them to do so allows them to bury their own misdeeds.

Don't worry. Obama will do nothing. He understands the stupidity in releasing reports such as these. The US will simply ignore these reports and allow the public time to forget about them. Then it will no longer be an issue. Of course there will be a few, like garfieldthecat, who will persist in trying to expose the torture, but they will fail. No one with the resources to do anything will put themselves at risk to satisfy a few fools curiosity. It's time for people to face the facts. The US has tortured, and will continue to torture. They will do so in secret and you will probably never hear about it again. Everyone knows this.

Because the US is filled these days with filthy cowards who would gladly overlook any crime if it means they can feel safer, it is politically impossible for political leaders who want to be elected to tell the public the truth. Swine can't bear to hear the truth and will punish you by calling you weak. That is why we will always be told we are swine by other people who aren't running for office.

1: Investigation.
2: Find those who approved/used these explicit methods.
3: Execute them.

I agree. If this is embarrassing for the US the US needs to address why it's embarrassing, not try and hide it. If you're embarrassed that you watch Kitty-porn maybe you should stop watching it, for example, instead of trying to hide it.

Agreed, Obama won't do anything. And the liberals will die a little bit more inside as their "hope for change" candidate continues with more of the same.

Americans and Muslims are both big fans of male genital slicing. I could see some getting off on this sort of thing.

If the terrorists allegations were true and he was tortured in Pakistan (by them and not CIA as insinuated) under rendition (started under Clinton) the fact remains this little maggot was true, admitted Al Qaeda plotting to kill innocents (but dont let that hold you girls back from getting high on hating the US)

The only Americans I know into harming genitals are all the kids I know getting their bits pierced. AQ don't forget was taking Iraqi kids faces off with piano wire (not that any of you would care about that)

I think we all know that he did torture people and I feel him and the other members of his administration should be brought to justice.

I agree however lets say we do release the photos, there a big fiasco, people goto jail but in turn Muslim world is enraged and we lose the war in Afghanistan.

That doesn't seem like a good idea.

**Glances down** Yeah, I'm quite confident that my mother's doctor was obsessed with cutting male genitals.

You don't defeat evil by becoming the evil you seek to defeat. Obviously, it's too late for that lesson in your case. :|

Freedom isn't free!!!

If things like these are released to the public, they will put the brave American men and women serving the country with their lives at risk overseas protecting America from terrorists and nuclear weapons in places like Afghanistan. Surely none of you would want that do you?
Those people who want this kind of information released are simply unpatriotic. If any of them are Americans, they should be tried for treason and jailed!

Like the great 43rd American president once said, you are either with us or against us.
Now which is it?
