Well, September is already stacked anyway, with Crysis, Hellgate: London, and Blacksite, with the former two to be released on the same day if I'm not mistaken.

Now to find the perfect video card deal before then!

Rule #1 when buying a video card specifically for a game: wait for benchmarks :)

RULE #2. wait 6 months after game is released to pick up a video card for it.

I'll /sign onto that rule. If you want to enjoy it fully, both the price and the performance will usually demand you wait for the next generation.

I say 2008 for UT3 ... it ain't for nothing that they've changed the title from 2007 to a more generic "third", probably because they knew it wouldn't make it in 2007 and that it'd be silly to keep "2007" in the title if it wouldn't see the light of the day during this year. This is speculation of course, I just like to see it that way. Probably Q1 2008, if not I'd be very surprised, but very happy as well I can't say the opposite.

I'm just pissed off, since i've been waiting for this game basically since it was first mentioned as being developed.

Only game i can say i've truely played for the last couple years is UT2k4.

I dabble with others, & actually played thru FEAR & Extraction Point (only two games i've ever completed), but nothing has ever really capitvated me like UT does...

Considering they were talking early 2006 release a few years ago, i've gotten more than a bit impatient.

Most people say they're glad Epic is waiting to release it "when it's done", so there are no bugs, etc.

I don't care.
I'd rather be playing it, loaded with bugs & issues, tomorrow, than wait longer :p

I agree with you n7. Apparently T. Sweeny wants to prove that U3 deferred rendering engine works with MSAA in DX10, thus the delays. The game will be optimized from SM4 -SM2 cards.

The funny thing is when I'm playing MP. I always turn off all high settings anyway, smoke, shadows, complex shader effects ,etc just so I can see better...

I never liked UT2003 or UT2004... UT2007 just looks like a Graphic whore with gameplay of UT2004.

No worries, CS:S will still be around for you.

Does anyone know when Call of Duty 4 is going to be out? That game looks hot.

No, it doesn't. :p

I beg to differ! :)

I love modern warfare games. I've been waiting for a modern warfare game that actually has a storyline, unlike the POS that is BF2.

COD4 looks like it's going to be awesome. If they can maintain the level of gameplay that was in COD2, but make it modern, what's not to like?

But they are churning sequels every 8 months a la EA, are they not?

That can't be good. Plus they seem to cater the console market now, with the PC version as an afterthought...was COD3 even released on PC?

I've waited for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. since 2003, others did since before that. So I've been waiting four years only to get a game full of bugs, instability issues and missing features, and right now only the modding community is slowly but surely putting the game back on its due tracks. One thing I'd have to say though, is that GSC GameWorld didn't have the same gaming-creation experience than others around, so it might have explained why the out-of-the-box version was nothing more than bugs on a DVD labeled as a game, and they've spent (or wasted) a minimum of five years of their lives on that thing, it's kind of depressing when you think about that ... but apparently they like their jobs, so that's ok with them I guess.

The point here is to wait for UT3 as long as we need to. I'd rather play it with a minimum of bugs later than full of bugs right now. I'm tired of rushed games for the crying masses. It must be depressive to be a video game developer and also a publisher. Always force the coders and artists and others to go fast and fast, often cut promised features (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a good example again, but there is plenty of others) and they end up realizing 40% or 50% of their "dream", of their ideas. Even if they're paid for that, they have the right to be disappointed by the impatient masses, they are humans like us, and if they're like me, they always want to finish something they've started, properly.

screw that... I hate CS. Damn game has sucked up too many gamers that don't play other better online FPS. Quake War is the next big Online game me think. BF2 was good but BF2142 was screw up like battlefield Vietnam.

BF1942

This thread is missing something very important:

Enemy Territory Quake Wars is due for release in July. Once this game is out, UT3/2007/whatever becomes irrelevant. Team Fortress 2 also looks excellent.

I wasn't aware of a UT2000 :p

You meant UT99, perhaps.
