relay rack strength?

I have a few 4u cases that I wanted to mount in a rack, but my question is will a relay rack support 2 of these 4u server cases, or better yet, will the brackets on each side of the front of the 4u server case hold up when bolted to the rack seeing how there is no support for the case in the rear? I can pick up a relay rack for around $150, and the 4 post racks are up around $400, so trying to save money if possible. Thanks

your rackmount cases have holes on the sides for sliding rails which are designed to be put into four post racks, ie cabinets.

The costs do rack up in a four post scenario, expensive rack, ~$50 for a pair of rails.

For a relay rack, i'd put some blocks of wood in the rear to support it. You should also bolt the the rack to the floor if possible using concrete anchors

Many rack vendors have a "Wall-to-rack kit" (Chatsworth wording) which is basically ladder rack that acts as a cross-brace between the top of the rack and the wall. If you're putting a lot of weight in the rack, bolt it down and cross-brace it with such a kit.

I strongly recommend four-post mouting on rails wherever possible. If you absolutely can't do that, then find some strong thing to put underneath the lowest box to hold it up. Jack posts work really well (see Home Depot), or cinder blocks, bricks, or blocks of wood as suggested. If servers are allowed to sag, they'll weaken their ears and you are in for a whole mess of trouble. Incidentally, make sure you can get rails that fit your case. There are some folks around the 'net that claim to sell universal rail kits, I haven't used them though.
