If I delete the chipset drivers and swap boards what is the disadvantage over a total clean install?

I just totally rebuilt my PC within the last year and it took weeks to get it all back to normal.

I am running XP Professional.

Thanks

You can try it and run a repair install to let windows load the new drivers. If it all works properly, fine. If not back to doing it the old way.

you are going through all the trouble of installing new board and chip then skimping on the reinstall of windows? you are asking for trouble IMHO by doing that. just my .02 though :)

Installing a new MB and CPU is like a 30min ordeal tops.

I was thinking more of doing the standard IDE setup, remove drivers, and reboot.

I was looking for someone that had experience in issues doing this.
