Relatively low performance in Farcry with new computer?

I'm using HardwareOC BenchTools to benchmark Farcry at 1600x1200, max settings, 4X AA 8X AF, and am only averaging about 37 fps with my new 939 Athlon 64 53-FX, 2 GB RAM, BFG GeForce Ultra OC. If I OC by video to 450/1200 I average about 39 fps. This is with Farcry 1.2 using SM 3.0. Shouldn't I be getting about 50 fps? It would seem I should be getting higher fps than this judging from the benchmarks around the Web.

Maximum quality:

Resolution: 1600×1200
Maximum quality option, Direct3D renderer
Level: Pier, demo: 1.tmd
Pixel shader: model 3.0
Antialising: 4×
Anisotrophic filtering: 8×

Score = 37.42 FPS (Run 1)
Score = 36.99 FPS (Run 2)
Average score = 37.20 FPS

Well what Service Pack are you running in Windows. If your still running SP1 you need to get SP2 because it adds DX9.0C. Also what drivers are you using for the video card. Did you make sure Vsync is disabled.

I'm using DX9.0C but not SP2. I'm using 61.77 drivers and Vsync is disabled.

I haven't tried other benches except 3D Mark 2003 and I get about 12,600 at stock speeds. Isn't that low for my system?

No, not sure how or if I should do that.

Well you should definitely do that, the question is how. What chipset is your motherboard?

Also, you said this is a new computer. Does that mean this is a fresh install, or did you upgrade your existing installation with some new parts?

This is a new computer from Monarchcomputer.com -- a fresh install. The motherboard is an ASUS A8V Deluxe.

As far as I know Monarch installed all the latest drivers. I don't see any drivers dated recently. (I just got the computer a week ago.) I do see what I think is a BIOS update, but I've always read don't update your BIOS unless you know it fixes a known issue you have.

Also, to test frames/sec in Far Cry go to console (hit the [~`] button if the controls are default) and type: \r_displayinfo 1
(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Yeah, I've been having the same problems. I run HardwareOC Far Cry Benchmark w/ Ubisoft-Research Level I get about 57fps and from looking at other computers they are getting double that. This is the same for doom which runs at about 40-50fps under timedemo. The res setting is 1024x768 w/ high quality settings, no AF or AA, and vsynch off. My comp is a A64 3500+, Asus AV8 Deluxe, Corsair 1GB(512x2) TwinXPro CL2. I already updated my drivers for video card, 4in1, etc.

Fresh installation or an upgrade? If it's an upgrade, are you sure you completely uninstalled any old drivers? I've heard the utility DriverCleaner does a good job of removing old driver software.
