Is this legit? Ohio sucks.

Well thats just rude, you can't say Ohio sucks, just because of this thread, or because of one stupid cop. I am not saying the OP is a liar, but you don't even know the full details of this. It just sounds like a greedy cop to me, but I would think we would of heard of this on the news if it happened alot. Although one thing that makes me wonder is that if he was indeed doing 85 in a 60, then that is wreckless endangerment, which is a lot worse then just a standard speeding ticket, so maybe that ha something to do with it.

So did he actually get a ticket from the cop? I would definately contest it, or at least try to figure out what the deal is. I can't believe a cop would do something like this, knowing full well that motorist could easily get him in trouble, assuming what he did was indeed wrong. Just sounds odd to me. We need more details.

Ohio Sucks.... just to clarify

Not a real cop I bet.
The ticket I got in Ohio was my cheapest ticket EVER. Around $80 for 134 in a 65.

In Arizona 25 over is Criminal (Misdemeanor). Might that have something to do with the Jail Threat? Was he still issued a ticket? It could be an appearance bond. IANAL

I would pay with a credit card and request a chargeback the next day (or report it stolen).

I loathe traffic cops.

I've been with relatives from out of state while they were here in Ohio, and they were never asked for any money or credit card up when they were pulled over. Just given a ticket... not sure how they paid for it, I assumed they went by the courthouse and paid it.

I agree that there are better states than Ohio in the midwest (but you would never have gotten me to say that until a few months ago)... but Ohio's not *THAT* bad. I've been flying at around 90 or so and approached cops... they've started to pull out, I quickly assume the legal limit... they pull back off the road... I keep going.
