Relationship between RAM vs CPU clock speed

Hi,

Would the motherboard know how to adjust automatically the frequency in this configuration?

CPU: Pentium D 830, 3.0 GHz (15x200 MHz)
RAM: DD2-667 (166 Mhz)

Are the two clock speed 200 Mhz & 166 Mhz related or independent?

If you want to try overclocking, you need to drop the ram fsb while raising the cpu fsb. Your board may have built in ratios for the ram; check the bios settings. I used 240 for the cpu and 1:1.66 for the ram using pc6400 ddr2.
