Relating to MMOs

Interesting results.

40/60 split on buying multiple subscriptions to the same MMO, in favor of No
40/60 spilt on playing more than one MMO at a time, again in favor of No
20/80 split on buying other players accounts, in favor of No
10/90 split on buying MMO money with real money, in favor of No

I understand why some people have multiple subscriptions to one MMO, but doing multiple MMO's at once seems like a waste. It's so time consuming just for one...

1- Yes
2- No
3- No
4- No

I had 2 accounts when playing SWG for convience for me to buff away, but when I played WoW, I wouldn't even consider it because you can have 8 toons on one server.

I must be playing too much EQ2. I am seriously considering buying 1p from eBay. Its only 30 USD, and 1p would certainly go a long way to improving my character. 🙂

But I like to build my own characters, so I'd never buy a complete character from eBay. And playing more than 1 MMO at a time is way too time consuming.

No to all.

I'm not playing any MMOs, but to me the this is like using god mode in a single player game, it would take away the fun. If earning the character abilities and equipment the "right way" isn't fun, then why am I playing the game at all?

I can see people doing this to show off in the game, or if they think jumping over early levels will get them to the "good part" of a game more quickly, but I'm too stubborn 🙂

A question I ask people all the time. Drugs aren't fun, they are addicting.

Yes, No, No, Yes.

I've owned multiple subscriptions and also bought gold off ebay when I went back to UO awhile back. We wanted to throw a house up quickly and have fun with it, so spent like 20 bucks or something and got a whole ton of money. Can't say I regret it.

I used to 2box in EQ, first a monk/druid and later a shaman/sk (ie. yes to first two). No way I'd buy money or accounts, if building up your character isn't fun you probably should find another game which you enjoy more. Btw how are you enjoying the reaming Sony's giving you from behind? 😛 Long live WoW~

I used to dual client in Asheron's Call. It was pretty handy, you could pledge your main character to a crafting alt so you wouldnt have to lvl it yourself. Mainly I used it to buff my alts with my main character.

No to everything else.

i dont play any mmos any more (thank god - kicked the habits!) but i recently sold off all my gold on one mmo for £1000 ($1800?). Paid for my PC hehe.

Because WoW is an MMO Light, catering to the Diablo 2 crowd. EQ2 is a heavy weight, catering to real RPers.

WoW in no way caters tot he Diablo 2 crowd, that's absurd. I played Diablo and Diablo 2 for years, and still get the urge to install it to this day, but I would never purchase WoW.

MMO Light, perhaps... However there are a couple of things to keep in mind; EQ1 didn't have the depth of content or challenge at its inception either. This came along with Kunark, Velious, and Luclin - and was taken away with PoP and the... what, 500 expansions? since then. It and EQ2 are both "MMO Light" now as well. If you want an immersive challenge as I do, wish with me that Vanguard will fill the role. Until then however, WoW is easily the better choice.

As far as the average player, WoW seems to have stolen the mature & MMO veteran crowds. It's not surprising, who wants to put up with a company treating them like crap, pawning them an unfinished product and milking them for every cent they have when there's finally an alternative? If anything, more of the "1337 d00dz" battle.net developed such a reputation for are now playing EQ, EQ2, SW:G and Planetside than WoW. Need I remind you where "PST" and player-run casinos started? Blizzard has even taken action against the casinos, once they inevitably migrated.

Out of unrelated curiosity, anyone have current subscription nubmers for EQ 1 & 2?
