I am trying to do a clean install in windows 8 but it is not letting me format during stallation of windows. It is just greyed out. I have 350mb system reserved and remaining amount(c drive / ssd) So I try in disk management and ofcourse it saying NO, due to the fact I have windows on it currently.

What do I need to do here? I have googled and googled and obviously didn't find the answer.

Thank You

You can't do a clean install from within windows. You will need to boot to your recovery partition or windows 8 DVD.

The best way to do a clean install if you are unsure is to use the System refresh or reset machanic in Windows.

Refresh will not delete your personal data but it will put Windows back to factory defaults.

Reset will clean out absolutely everything.

It's available from the menu screen in Windows 8 - Easy and handy. Sometimes you might be asked for your recovery media, just insert the Windows 8 dvd or a USB with windows 8 on it and it will continue.
