ReInstall windows 98 on a Dual Boot Machine

I would Like to know if I do a format of My C: drive on my dual boot system will I erase the master Boot record?

I have a dual boot system Windows 98 on the c: drive
Windows 2k on the D: drive. Windows 98 need a fresh install very bad. I would like to just format the drive and do a nice fesh install but I still need to be able for the boot loader to get to my windows 2k.

Please help..

I don't think you will lose your boot record but, it will not boot up because you will lose the necessary boot files. you can solve your problem by copying all the files from your c:\*.*, this doesn't include any of the folders like Windows/My Documents etc., and then putting them back there after the reinstall of Win98 I am more than 100% that this method will work for ya, make sure you copy all the files, including the hidden files, they are usually .bin, .sys .bat etc files.

Format the C: drive and you will lose your w2k boot files and menu. However, restoration is quite simple. Do a w2k repair install, or open w2k Recovery Console and run "fixboot".
