Rehabilitating my elbow

Well, to make a short story shorter, I got arm-barred while at my brazilian jiu jitsu class. I didn't tap because I knew I could do the escape, but the guy who was cranking it was fairly new and went a little too hard. The elbow made a loud popping noise, but it didn't hurt at the time. Right after that, I escaped it and all was good.

But now my arm hurts when I get near to extending it. I know the armbar hyperextended it and such, but now I'm wondering what I should do. I tried lifting light weights to try to rehab it last week and I may continue to do that. I will also be making an appointment with the doctor, just to make sure nothing's torn and such. Has anybody had a similar experience, and if so, what did you do to get back?

Oh, also, this happened a couple of weeks ago. Thanks in advance.

Any time you hear popping and experience pain in a joint you should get it checked out. Probably just strained a few things, but at least it wasn't your knee! Those things are a bitch once they're hurt.

Don't forget to ice it when its hurting

The surprising thing is that it's not that painful. It's only sensitive when I move it in an awkward position or when I extend it fully (usually only hurts when I'm holding/lifting something). I definitely plan on goin' to the doc though.

Oh and GenHoth, I'm not really happy that it's a joint at all. Joints are ridiculous to get back to full capacity and often times, you can't. I feel that this injury is minimal from that standpoint, which is great. It's just a bummer that I can't do any workouts right now except for running.
