Regular total system lockups with raid controller

Hello,

I do have lockups on an asus rampage formula mainboard, q9450, 8 ddr, vista 64. All the memory, cpu and hard disk suites are running fine, however sometimes a very harddisk intensive task results in a lock of all software.

I use an adaptec 2405 controller and than the problem occurs. The problem never occurs when i use a regular ahci setup with 2 disks.
Would another raid controller help or has this something to do with the 7200.11 disks with the firmware issue. They were updated with the latest firmware but...?

Thanks
Bram

Hi,

thanks but i already tried that,
firmware and drivers are updated and a fresh windows install

Could it be a hd problem?

That would suggest you ought to try a different controller.

Yes, that seems to be although the onboard raid controller did give a problem too.
Somebody suggested that the disks are not that good for riad,
Is that a general issue?
