Regular Dental FLOSS or those plastic "FLOSSERS"??????

Just curious as to what people might prefer.

I think the flossers are easier unless you don't mind pulling out a couple feet worth of regular floss out.

I have this little thing in my conscience though, that wonders about all that plastic (the handles) on those flossers that just end up in land fills. I'm not big on disposable batteries and buy NiMh rechargables for all my electronics in an effort to minimize my land fill contributions.

Anyway.........I dunno. Perhaps "flossers" are made with a very biodegradable plastic that has a short half-life in the ground??

I know, I know......may sound funny but that's how my conscience works when I look at a pack of 100 flossers vs. a spool of floss.

Indeed, but I can never find the brand I like in stores, all drug stores sell anymore here are the cheap-o flimsy kind. If you want the best, look for G.U.M flossers.

I actually use the Reach flosser. Looks like a toothbrush with removable heads. I keep a pack of the cheap-o flossers in my car.

I've always used just the regular floss.

Beware: G.U.M regular floss is sh1t. It frays sooo easily, you can't even make a clean separation when you pull it out.

Not familiar with G.U.M. as my wife just buys the generics, but I recently had to quit using this stuff called "Satin" as it was more like a ribbon........(i.e. it had "width").

Then, of course, they tell you not to "snap" the floss in........(which I find hilarious 'cuz my dentist ALWAYS snaps 'em in 'cuz he always tried to make his dental work tight). But with this "Satin" stuff, it was just soooo wide that if you went in & out perfectly it's no problem. But if you go in with the *width* you definitely get the *snap*. Then, if you don't get out on the *thin*, then you almost feel like you're gonna pull the two teeth out that you're between, so I finally just had to give up on it. My wife won't use it either, but she doesn't floss very much.

Maybe I'll contact one of the mfgrs & see how biodegradeable the plastic is on these "flossers".

Interesting that people are pretty much split on the 'spool' vs. 'flossers'.

I am also supprised at how strong floss is. and thin it is I used it for a project.

Plastic flossers are the best. I have never been able to get to my back teeth with regular floss. I has a thing called "floss fingers" from my dentist when I was little. You took regular floss and wrapped it around the floss fingers to make it easy for reaching the back part of your mouth. It is very similar to the Reach access, which I also use.
