As they say in ebonics, "you be F*cked"

My suggestion would be to reformat and reinstall.

Sorry

Which version of Windows are you running? If you are running Windows 98 SE and have the Windows CD, you may be able to salvage your computer without having to reformat. If you boot the computer from a bootable floppy and run Windows Setup from your Windows CD while in DOS, it runs through some system checks before you would normally start to install Windows. If the registry is screwed up, after running scandisk, it will check and then try to rebuild the system registry. I've had to do it before to a co-worker's computer and it may work for you. If not, your only option may be reformatting and reinstalling. Good luck.

Have you tried restoring an older version of your registry?

Have you tried running Scanreg from the DOS prompt? Boot into Dos from the F8 startup menu and then type Scanreg. It will scan and fix the registry if it can, comes with Windows and made by Microsoft. Not at DOS prompt, but DOS boot.
