Hello-

I think this is the correct area..

I preconfigured 4 PC's with XP Pro and Office XP.
I opened Word and entered my full name and NT account logon.
But then I copied my Profile into the Default User profile...I should have not opened Word before doing this...
I did make a backup copy of the default user profile before..but would rather not erase the current user profiles...

Now, when the new users logged on, they did not have to enter the name into Word..and when they do a Help/About in it, it shows as Registered to me, and not them.
Hence, network files are coming up as 'locked for editing by xxx" and Im not actually using the file..the other person is.

Is there a reg setting to erase and then prompt for this info...or is there a reg setting I can replace my name with theres?

THanks!

I had luck a doing it this way (under Win2k. should work the same on XP Pro).

Go to Registry Key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\{90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}]

Change the value of "RegCompany" and "RegOwner" to the required registered company and user names.

Then find the following key for your Office version.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common]
rename the sub-key called "UserInfo" to "OldUserInfo"

Restart Office.

Any settings for Outlook mail may have to be redone.
