My comp crashes and locks up 2 or 3 times in a couple of hours session only browsing the net , not playing any games. I get one DLL error message during desktop download ,I understand that may be a registry problem,I purchased Uniblue registry booster downloadable soft from Newegg and it did found 245 problems but will fix only 15 because it is a trial version,if I want all problems fixed it said I should upgrade to full version for another 40$ after I paid $ 12.55.Unfortunately for their reputation Newegg did not post that this is only a trial version.I still want the registry fixed,
what is the best software tool to do it?
Thanks

This is the error I get:
Smart Bridge Alerts:MotiveSB.exe-Entry Point Not Found/ The proceddure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL
This everything is in one box.

Ok, this one's pretty simple, and it's not a registry issue (as I suspected).

Smart Bridge software is something your ISP (e.g. Verizon, etc.) has installed on your system. The problem is that the software has an OLD version of the PSAPI.DLL file. Windows wants to use the newer version, particularly after IE7 has been installed.

The ONLY version of PSAPI.DLL that should be on your computer is located in the Windows\System32 folder. Do NOT mess with that file.

Now, do a search for PSAPI.DLL on your computer, and RENAME ALL OTHER INSTANCES OF THAT FILE OTHER THAN THE ONE IN THE Windows\System32 folder.

In particular, you need to rename the PSAPI.DLL file in your SmartBridge folder. Rename it to something like PSAPIOLD.DLL. Reboot afterwards.

What will happen is that the SmartBridge software won't find this file in its own folder, and will, instead, use the correct version of PSAPI.DLL in the Windows\System32 folder. Since it's first looking in its own folder for software to run, it's using the older version of this DLL and hence, the error. So, make sure you at least rename the PSAPI.DLL file in the SmartBridge folder. Remember, do not rename the version in the windows\system32 folder. Be sure to reboot after renaming the correct file(s).

Verizon DSL software is a joke. I have seen it crater countless pc's and you don't need to install it to get on the internet anyhow. Even some of the Verizon CSR's will recommend that you refrain from installing the software.

My advice: go to add or remove programs and uninstall any Verizon software that is listed, and avoid paying for registry cleaners. Chalk your $12.50 purchase up as a lesson learned. :)
