All ya gotta do is open regedit(start-run-regedit) click on Registry. Then click Export Registry File and tell it where you want to save it.(I usually use my desktop) Give it a name and click save.
Simple as that.
Actually you can use "scanreg" which is window's registry checker. It keeps numerous back ups also. It can be run in dos mode (for win98se and below) to restore the registy after, say, a botched hardware install.
