Is voting for President the only office on the ballots where you live?

The OP probably shouldn't vote anyways as he's probably too lazy to study the issues to make an informed decision.

Your AT handle couldn't be more ironic

It was pretty simple here in Canada.

On election day I went to the school where the booths are, told them I am not registered, showed them some ID and a minute later I was voting. And no, it shouldn't be any more complicated than that.

Agreed. Why do any states require you register weeks or months in advance?

Here in AZ you can register to vote online. I did in about 30 seconds the other day.

Because it's a cartoon character, and cartoons are a big issue this election?

And don't forget, the government usually lags behind the times. Every time I walk into the DMV or the post office I feel like I'm in some 1980s time warp.

I can't believe I registered to vote by walking by one of those tables on the side of the street and filling out a form (with my ssn no less). Of course that was years ago before all this ID theft craze but that was a stupid thing to do ...

My problem is that I have an Illinois Driver's License, but am in living in Colorado for the next few years at least. When I try to register for Colorado, it asks for my Colorado Driver's License number. Surprisingly, even emailing the office of my intended candidate yielded a vague and nonhelpful answer. (You'd think they'd be clammering to help me register in a swing state).

If you're in college, shouldn't you be filling out an Illinois absentee ballot?

I'm not in college, but regardless, yes this is what I'm trying to figure out: can I vote in CO due to living and working here for the next few years, or do I have to fill out an absentee ballot for IL due to not having a CO driver's license?

Are you an actual permanent resident? If yes, then you need to get a CO driver's license and need to register your car in CO.

If not, then you're still considered a permanent resident of IL and need to cast an absentee ballot.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

If you're not a college student and you're living there for a few years, you need to get a CO license.

Yup, it's very likely that he can't legally drive in CO for too long after moving there w/o getting a CO license.

Wow people are so daft here, so I'll say it again and bold it--I AM REGISTERED NOW, or as long as it takes for the mail to go through.

You don't get it. We're telling you we don't want you to vote even if you are registered.

From http://www.revenue.state.co.us...incl=faqdrli/faqdrli12

If you are a Colorado resident who operates a motor vehicle or motorcycle on public streets and highways in Colorado, you must have the appropriate valid Driver's License. A resident is defined as a citizen who has lived in Colorado for 90 continuous days; or upon becoming employed, whichever occurs first.
