So, I'm sitting here thinking, of all the biotching and complaining about this and that I'm seeing, is anyone doing anything about it. If you want to make a change, then vote, regardless of if you think whether your vote counts or not.

I know most of you don't have the resources or the time to register, so here are three sites that I googled, which allows you to register to vote right from your chair, right now. So do it, and make a change in November, for better or worse.

Rock the Vote

Declare Yourself

Snail mail form from the Feds. (for the ultra paranoia)

EDIT: Yes, you'll have to snail mail them in, but, the first two sites, you don't have to write it in.

I voted in the last election, and recently moved. Thanks for reminding me that I need to send in my change of address stuff.

Does the Rock the Vote site make you download/print/mail in the forms? I just tried the Declare Yourself site and after filling in all the online forms, it basically dumps it into a PDF and asks you to download/print/snail mail it in... what's the point?

To prevent people from spamming.

This summer Ive been at my local festivals in the city and these people come up to me and are like, "I'm going to register you to vote".
I got offended and said, "so just because I'm young you assume I'm not registered to vote?".

I've completely changed my mind on this subject over the last few years. I now encourage many people I know NOT to vote.

They won't spend five minutes learning anything about the candidates or the issues. They have zero concept beyond Bush vs. Kerry. They know nothing about congressional, state and local candidates or issues, and don't care. Then they go to vote and pull lever after lever for people they don't have the faintest idea about. Name recognition is their sole criterion, and then they complain about why all the incumbents keep getting re-elected.

I had always assumed that people who were motivated enough to register to vote would also be motivated to learn something about who and what they are voting for, but I've since found out that's not the case.

So if you fit that description, no offense, but please stay home. Stop re-electing incumbents and you'll see real change.

I'm registered, but I recently moved. It occurs to me I might want to go tell that to the State so they'll let me vote in the correct local elections.

Good one kranky, since most of us here have plenty of arguments over the candidates, and are somewhat educated on the politics behind each of the candidates (due to the numerous facts and figures brought forth in these arguments). I do encourage ATOTers to vote, vote for what they believe in.

I only vote for topics that i am informed on...I try and stay informed, but there are always times where even i cant know about all the canidates, so if i dont know who i want to vote for, i dont

It's people like you that make the voting rate so low in the U.S

Not just that, but most people don't register until it's too late. Come election time, everybody is watching, and itching wanting to vote, but they can't, because they didn't register.

I make a 1 vote difference. My not voting has literally the EXACT same effect on the outcome as your vote. Muahaha

So in your mentality, there's not much of a difference between $999,999,999 and $1,000,000,000? Got a dollar?
