register ddr with ecc work for k7s5a mobo?

Hi, i got my 2 sticks of Crucial 256mb 2100 DDR that's register and ECC, can I use these on my K7s5a normally or will it cause problems,, will these ram work on other DDR motherboard too.

I don't think K7S5A accept registered and ECC DDR, in fact just a few of them does
ABIT KR7A is one of them I know for sure.

I don't think SiS 735 supports registered-DIMM mode at all. Having an ECC DIMM (72 bits wide) on
a mainboard that doesn't support it normally doesn't matter - the extra 8 databits will simply
remain unused ... unless the board's BIOS has been written to explicitly reject such a DIMM.

regards, Peter

This is a "hit and miss" situation. Some have gotten one stick to work before, but not two. However, it is not guaranteed and some have not gotten any to work on this board. It doesn't support it as a rule.

Thanx,, everyone ,, but can I just use these register ecc ddr rams as normal unbuffer non ecc ones.,, will the K7s5a acceapt it and thinks it's just a regular unbuffer stick or will it not run it at all?

I answered that.

All you can do is try. If it works, great. If not, no damage is done.

Well - I have a 256Mb stick of Corsair PC2100 ECC Registered that I am going to put on this board just for the heck of it.

Now I'm curious and just have to give it a go. 😉
