Oh please. The boy is being treated like a hero. He is just a little boy who happened to be close to an idiot who jumped over some seats. He didn't save a family from a burning house, or take a bullet to protect his little sister. Just a little boy in the right place at the right time at a baseball game. Seems to me if the guy had not done what he did, the boy would have left the game empty handed. So everything seemed to turn out great for everyone except the man who in his pride and shame would not give up a baseball to a little boy who wasn't didn't even seem to care if he got it or not.

Hey dipsh!t, if the guy didn't dive over the seat, the little boy would have picked up the ball seeing as how it landed in his row right in front of him. They guy basically stole it from him.

I've been to a few games and every single time a ball was caught by an adult they would give it to a kid near by. Hell I caught a puck at a hockey game, and gave it away to a kid.

how is the boy being treated like a hero?

from what i read, it sounds like the boy is the victim. and sanders is the hero.

and imo, rightfully so.

Sanders is the hero here, and he is a great guy for doing what he did.

and everyone is agreeing with you that sanders is the hero, so why are you badmouthing the kid?

the kid was a victim. no one is calling the kid a hero.

Want a cookie for that? I didn't ask you to prove how great you are to me. I'm sure you know how great you are. I'd probably do the same thing if a kid near me wanted it, seeing as I don't want nor need a hockey puck. I was just making a statement.

so are you arguing against yourself here or something? The boy isn't being treated as a hero, he was a victim of an asshat's greed to catch a fly ball.

I'm thinking Zysoclaplem is this asshat, or otherwise a close relative in order to defend this guy and to be as dumb as him.

The kid wasn't actually going for the ball, but the guy still acted like an ass. I hope it was worth looking like a d!ckhead on national TV just to get that souvenir.

I wonder who's worse, him or the Cubs fan that lost the series for them 😀

Cards reliever Steve Kline also witnessed the incident on television and sent the man over a gift, a Cardinals shirt, which he signed, "tough guy and ball stealer."

Hah

That's right, he's just a little kid. What he "did" was get bowled over by some assh0le moron who though he had every right to the ball even if it meant jumping into the next row, into taken seats and a little kid. Every now and then, when someone is a huge ass, there is an equal and opposite force, great that the kid could take advantage of it in this case. Doncha think?! 😉 😀

Actually the ball didn't belong to anyone. When a ball is hit into the stands, it's up for grabs. So technically, that guy did not steal the ball away from the little boy. It's the measures he took in getting the ball that makes him the pariah that he became at the game.

I became a Reggie Sanders fan when he played here for the Diamondbacks. I still cheer for him, and always will (unless he signs with the Yankees) 😉

i enjoyed how much the announcers mocked the guy

I don't know. the guy was a dumb@ss for acting the way he did but aren't the tv announcers and sports center and such partly to blame for this type of action. I know its not that simple, but we have become a people of 'highlights' and doesn't catching a baseball at a game have some type of 'glory' attached to it now. If not, then why do people go crazy after a $2.00 baseball; i've seen it happen plenty of times at games. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong but what do you guys think. Or is alcohol to blame for stupid stuff people do at ballparks?

It was funny, however, how the guy said he caught the ball when he was interviewed.

Wasn't that the kid's mom who was picking up the ball as the dude dove over ? She was the one who would've given it to the kid, were it not for Bo Jackson and his flying legs... I feel pretty bad for the dude's gf when he returned to the seat...

where is his interview? did the guy point out that he knocked a little kid over? and then nearly kicked him in the head? heh
