Regardless of your political beliefs...

you must admin that John McCain is an outstanding American who stands up for his country and what he believes in. John McCain for your service and love of this country.

I'm sure McCain stands up for what he believes in. I just don't like what he believes in. And sometimes I wonder if he even knows wtf he believes.

I think all four candidates have good personal stories.

Compared to Bush, Gore and Clinton we have really done good this time around.

Nope... Not me. I think he sold us out in the Keating 5 and is way too in bed with his corporate fatcat buddies and lobbyists surrounding him. That says he is a typical corrupt politician. Like many politicians, to further his carreer, he hides behind this false patriotism that he uses like a bludgeon.

I think he stands up for what's politically expedient, like all politicians do. Dude's a tough mofo, though.

I agree as long as he doesn't expect me to vote for him.

No doubt about it, he has done his country great services. I won't vote for him, but I do respect him.

I would have agreed with this 100% in 2000, but he has done a lot of pandering during the Bush presidency. At the end of the day he is a man I can respect and would not fear having as President, but I see him as a bit of a sellout.

Agreed...and I'm surprised to see this opinion not expressed more often. We've accepted that politics has to be about absolute burning hatred for the other guys or you're somehow doing it wrong. Why can't McCain be a perfectly fine guy who's politics and party I don't agree with? Or for that matter, why can't Obama be an inspirational guy who just doesn't hold the views some people are looking for? Instead, they're treated as these cartoons because it's easier to hate them that way.

I think McCain and Palin is a perfect duo for the GOP leadership AND for taking back the conservative party from the neoconservatives. But I don't think they will be good for America.

Based upon what I remember of McCain in 2000 I don't think he is a bad fellow, he just has bad bed fellows. ..

In intellect Clinton stands heads above all of them.

Whether you agree with him not, it is widely acknowledged he is one of the brightest presidents we've had.

I think that is a really spot on assessment. I can appreciate that Obama really thinks he can bring change. I think he really does feel that he can do that. Whether or not that will happen is another topic. I think McCain is of the mindset that he will do whatever he thinks is best for the country. Many folks will not agree with how he sees things, but he will still do what he thinks will be best. That is what I appreciate most about him. Maybe that isn't the best way to describe things, but it is what it is.

You may be right, but what did he do with all that talent? Use it to bag interns? That will be the story of Clinton's life. Amazing talent and skill wasted by his own personal failings.

Plus I was going talking about the personal stories of this years candidates compared to that of our previous ones:

Clinton the woman chaser.
Gore the Senators son.
Bush who perhaps got into the guard because of who his dad was.
Kerry the guy who went to Vietnam and then told made up stories about his fellow soldiers.
Edwards the cheater.

We have had a run of bad candidates recently. Nice to see a crop who are for the most part completely respectable and who will represent our country nicely.

And taking money from lobbyists is the right thing for America how?
The Keating 5 scandal was patriotic how?
Giving even more tax breaks to Oil companies is is what now?

There are 2 sides to every argument and McCain is a politician in it for his own interests, above all else... Don't kid yourself.

It wasn't meant as an attack, just questioning... You stated he does what is best for his country and you admired him for that. I wanted to point out that he does what is best for himself.
