What would you consider ideal size for you?

and what type of stuff do you generally keep on your hard disks?

edit: I'd say 600 gigs would be ideal for me

3 200 sata drives with 8 meg cache
 
are we talking about single drives or arrays?

and pretty much anything you can get in a digital form has been on my hdd at one point in time or another...but mainly whts stored is music, video, and games...
 
at any given time, I could get by with like 100G, but that's cuz I back stuff up to dvd.

having said that, dvd is starting to feel a little constraining and I might start storing stuff on tape. Stuff I don't see myself accessing in foreseeable future.
 
ideal for me? 250Gigs maybe. I have 200 right now (120 + 80) and it's about 60% full. I have 21GB of music, 14GB of music videos, 20GB of games maybe, plus a few gigs of random things I've downloaded and programs/apps.
 
I figure a TB at least.

DVD Images (no way in hell am I brining my original DVDs to college) at 4GBs a pop take up a lot
Anime (for HQ releases that are easily 250mb/ep, this ads up to well over 200gigs)
MP3s
Games
 
if i had it my way for storage i'd want a TB or two...that way i don't have to delete all the video i get after i watch it...too lazy to back it all up...

haha, no, I'm probably just stupid. I estimated the 60% and the numbers and didn't bother checking them 🙂
 
If I didn't use my computer for video editing, 40 GB would be fine. I don't download movies/tv shows/porn/etc on my computer... not sure what else I'd use that much disk space for.
 
I got a 120GB 8MB cache drive, plenty huge. I'm only using a little less than half of it (but then, I'm sure that'll change as I use more and more.... 😉)
 
A lot.

I'm extremely stingy with my sole 80GB drive and I'm down to less than a Gig left of space. However, I've got a 250GB drive coming today, so 'sall gooood 😉
 
At least 400Gb due to video editing.

My OS and my programs are installed on my 20 gig drive. I have an 80 gig drive for temp storage before writing to DVD, and video editing.
 
I've got one 250GB External drive right now, and its full. I reckon I'd need two of them 400GB Seagate drives. That'd hold me over for a few months.
