I have been emailing Sapphire and Powercolor, asking when their AGP 3850's will be available.
I emailed them several times each over the past two weeks. No replies. Tell me, is their tech support anything like this? Getting frustrated.

Keysplayr, I have no experience with Sapphire or Powercolor, but I do have experience waiting in futility for email responses from companies in general. It's like waiting for Godot. You have to get them on the phone.

I called up Sapphire for you and a sales rep said early to mid February for the AGP 3850's. The number there for the US rep is 909-594-3128.

Lol, I gave up 2 days ago.. many australian resellers had an expected "in stock" date of late january. Now they're saying sometime in February. Dates keep changing and it doesnt look like the 3850 agp will be coming out for a while.

So yea, I give up, I recently acquired a pentium D for free and will be shoving a 512mb 8800gts in that =P

If they haven't announced a release date yet (which as far as I know, there isn't an official one yet) they will definitely not respond to emails. There are probably millions pouring in about it. I am surprised that they are giving some sort of clue over the phone.

Yeah I know what you mean though. WTF is this thing going to launch? They are either waiting for driver development or a counter launch against an nVidia product since all of these companies have cards in hand already. I am curious to see what this bad boy can do. Club-3D has a makeshift performance comparison but it doesn't say much if new drivers are needed.

I got tired of waiting. So I swapped out my MOBO and Ram for a PCI-e mobo.. had to upgrade to DDR2 ram with my socket 754 AMD-64

Yup cat 8.1 seem all right. I am actually playing Crysis at 10x7 on my X1950PRO medium settings and it's enjoyable but does have some significant slowdowns.

AGP for EVAR 111!!!!

i like Cat 8.1 ... for the first time i no longer have to reset my dual-monitor setup whenever CCC "forgot" the settings ... that is ONE thing i liked better about nvidia when i had my 7800GS/8800GTS-640 and their CP. CCC at the time was awful ... i guess AMD is finally giving some attention to CCC ... and AGP

i don't think AGP is forever :p
-i thought i was one of its last supporters back in May when i decided to switch rather than fight.
:D

not really :p
-unless you are talking Crysis at 8x6

i was enjoying all my DX9 games maxed out completely ... the *only* DX10 game i can enjoy is Hg:L at 16x10 ... it actually DOES look and play better than DX9

of course, i am going to upgrade again - tomorrow ... a cheap upgrade to Xfire with a 2900pro
-then i'll see about DX10

Scuttlebutt has it they are waiting upon drivers. But given previous experience I would not count on them reaching significant maturity 'till another six months of development.

Correct, however in my mind, I wasn't sure if this was a leap year. :D

So today, the 30th, plus tomorrow, the 31st, plus 29 days in Feb. = 2-31. :p

Extremely. Coupled with a decent CPU, this card will be the AGP card to have. I use to get around 4200-4300 in 3DMark06 on my old rig using an overclocked 3700+ and a X1950 Pro AGP.

How high were you able to overclock your 3700+?

I love my 3700, X1950 Pro set up.

They are selling in Australia :)

http://www.sltech.com.au/shop/....php?products_id=23050

$37 more than its PCIE brother :!

Remember Australia price are always higher : ) ... 3850 avg price is $250 ;*(

We always seem to get AGP part 1st , maybe the oem think we are poor who can't afford to upgrade. Anyways Australia has the highest turn over ratio for HD-TV in the world so take that you anti-poor biased company :(
